Rocks

Several weeks ago, I visited the oldest cemetary here in Columbia. I was walking around and I came upon several different markers, most of them of Jewish descent.

I then noticed that there were some smooth rocks on top of the markers, all sizes and colors.

Does anyone know what the significance of these rocks are?

when jewish family members and freinds visit a grave of a loved one they leave a stone there to show they are remembered.

Hi Ron, You must watch 'Schindler's List' to experience the real emotion behind this very moving Jewish tradition. Here is Scotland we do something similar to remember our fallen heroes, we build a cairn (a mound of stones set up as a monument, tombstone) usually on mountain sides.
