I have been a member of AOL for a long time and I had a blog (Journal) there, called "Gif's Corner".

All AOL Journaler's are encouraged to transfer their Journals over here to Blogger. So I did just that.

Jesus is Coming Soon!

Many people believe there is nothing that can be known about the timing of the Lord's return because Jesus said He would return like a"thief in the night" (Matthew 24:42-44).

But Paul makes it clear in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 that Jesus' statement does not apply to believers: "But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief..." He then proceeds to explain why: "for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness; so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober." Paul is referring, of course, to the light of the Holy Spirit who indwells all true believers and who can enlighten us through our study of Scripture to know the season of the Lord's return (1 John 2:27).

My Aunt was buried today and this song was sung by a close personal friend of the family. Everyone joined in and it was pretty to listen to.

She is a believer in Christ Jesus and I will see her soon.

Roots 'N Blues 'N BBQ Festival

The City of Columbia had their 2nd annual Roots 'N Blues 'N BBQ Festival this weekend, starting last evening and continuing all day today until 10:30 pm.

I didn't go last night, but I did this morning, early afternoon. 

Great music and great BBQ. You sure can't beat that and the festival was free!

Here are some pictures I took:

It is a gorgeous day here, low '70's with sunny skies. Great weekend for this.

The food was a bit pricey, but it's BBQ, so that is the reason. They also served alcohol in selected areas of downtown.

Overall, a great time to be had with family and friends!
